Tea Party

Brooklyn was invited to a Princess Tea Party last weekend. She got to wear one of her 'Cinderella dresses'. She was very excited to go! Many of her little friends were there, so she had a lot of fun. When moms came to pickup kids, they put on a fashion show for us. Brooklyn was not up for participating, she had a early morning and no nap. If she wouldn't have seen me come in, she probably would have been fine. All the little girls were all dressed up with crowns, hats, jewelry and all the necessities of a princess. The did a model walk, did some poses and then sang for us. It was so cute! Miss Becky is so brave and did an awesome job, as always.

It's Time!

We decided that it was time to really start in on the potty training. Brooklyn has been showing interest for quite some time, but we weren't planning to be home much until recently. So we really started on Tuesday and we had no accidents until dinnertime last night, which was my fault since I didn't make her go before we sat down to eat. So 3 days with no accidents- YEAH!!!. She did great away from home as well. She even played in the snow yesterday and came in with dry pants. I am so proud of her! She loves wearing her panties and prefers going on the big potty like Si. I knew that she would be pretty easy to train, but I wasn't expecting this. Now it will be some time before we conquer the nighttime issue. But we're taking it step by step and she is being such a trooper and becoming such a big girl!

Retreat

A few weekends ago, our church held its annual Ladies Retreat. It is an awesome way to take a bit of a vacation without kids and with your best friends. It is an event that is very much anticipated and it always ends too soon. This years retreat was in Homer. We had a great time and can't wait until next year. First Haircut

Brooklyn did get her first haircut last Tuesday. Unfortunately, you will not find the cute pictures from a salon or myself cutting it with her cute smile, etc. Like many little girls do at least once- Brooklyn took the scissors to her own hair.

Silas and Brookie were cutting paper on their little craft table. I was in catching up on a couple DVR events. Brooklyn runs in to me and says "hair on da floor mama". I didn't think anything of it. I mean we have a dog and I hadn't swept the area in a couple weeks. So I just said- "it's okay". As she was running back to her table she put her hand up by her hair- then it clicked!! So I made my way over there to check out the situation. Sure enough there was some hair on the floor. Both her and Si just looked at me with a little innocent grin.

I had to get the story straight- Brookie took the scissors to her own hair and then took them to her brothers. Thankfully, you can't even tell with Silas. She did cut hers towards the back- which I think is better than the front, but now her cute little pigtails just aren't the same.

Needless to say- she has always known that we cut paper but now she knows that we ONLY cut paper. If you ask her she will tell you what we cut with scissors, "paper" and who can cut hair, "Mommy and Daddy".

Update

I just thought I would do a quick update on my resolutions for 2009. Things are going really well. I am actually surprising myself a little bit.
I have only missed 3 days in reading.
My exercising is not as intense as I planned, but it is happening and that counts hugely in my book.
Sam and I have stuck to the twice a month date night thing so far.
I will be honest- I am not always disciplining in the nicest way to my kids, but I am trying and am aware of it when I don't.
We haven't really labeled a night as family night, but have spent a lot of time doing stuff together in the evenings.
Those were the ones that I thought I would really struggle with and it has been so awesome to see that when you have a little faith- anything is possible!

Me made it!!

Well Sam and I made it to the 5 year mark! Crazy to think that we have been married for 5 years! Even crazier- We have been together for 9 years! These last 5 years have been filled with ups and downs but we seem to be closer now than ever before. We have cherished these years and have never taken any day for granted. We know that many marriages don't even last this long and we are grateful that we have been blessed with such a great relationship with eachother. We look forward to many more years to love eachother!

Birthday Party

Brooklyn celebrated her 2nd birthday on the 24th. She was able to open a few gifts from us at home that day. We had her party o the 25th. When I asked her where she wanted to go for her birthday she said "Playland McDonald's"! And since there is limited places that you can have a party here in the winter, I figured that would work just fine. It as kind of crowded but the kids didn't seem to mind one bit. They all just ran wild and had fun. We had a cupcake cake and then opened gifts. It was a simple party, but it turned out good! Thanks to all that were able to come and for the great gifts, she loves them all!
